CLEVELAND, Ohio - Add Vedas Fitness to the lineup of incoming tenants at Key Center, where the Millennia Companies is working through roughly $24 million in renovations following its purchase of the downtown Cleveland complex early this year.

Vedas, a local gym, spa and corporate-wellness business, will take over the Club at Key Center's former fitness space on the third floor of the Marriott hotel. The 20,000-square-foot operation is likely to open by early January, after a nearly $3 million overhaul.

The Club, a private social gathering place that also included exercise facilities, closed at the end of 2016, just before Millennia acquired Key Tower, the Marriott, the adjacent Society for Savings Building and affiliated parking.

Millennia is converting the club's fourth-floor dining and bar area into an event space called the St. Clair Ballroom, which will open in December.

Vedas edged out local and national competitors to replace the gym.
